Detecting Concentration

I recently saw that Sparkfun started to carry the Neurosky MindWave. They did a fun "new product" video where they used a MindWave (and an Arduino) to bend a plastic spoon based on the output of the MindWave's "concentration" detector. The video made me curious about what kind of EEG signatures indicated concentration vs not-concentration. So, I brought out my prototype OpenBCI electronics and did some recordings.

I did some more experiments with concentration. I recorded my EEG while eating breakfast. I found the data to be incredibly interesting, including the important finding that "Birds beat the Internet". If you're interested, you can check out my data at:
