How do I connect my VS Code python to the OPENBCI GUI
I am using the Python Get Data from a Board that BrainFlow themselves offer. I am trying to make it so it is getting data from a PlayBack File, this way I can develop an AI that can predict motor functions based off the data. For some reason I keep getting this error. How should I proceed?
"usage: test2 [-h] [--timeout TIMEOUT] [--ip-port IP_PORT] [--ip-protocol IP_PROTOCOL] [--ip-address IP_ADDRESS]
[--serial-port SERIAL_PORT] [--mac-address MAC_ADDRESS] [--other-info OTHER_INFO]
[--serial-number SERIAL_NUMBER] --board-id BOARD_ID [--file FILE] [--master-board MASTER_BOARD]
test2: error: the following arguments are required: --board-id"

Suggest you post BrainFlow questions on their Slack, which you can sign up for:

Board IDs are listed in this section of the manual:
https://brainflow.readthedocs.io/en/stable/SupportedBoards.html#openbci
I think you may be misunderstanding. Brainflow library and examples are intended to stream / read the data DIRECTLY from the board (Cyton or Ganglion). There is no involvement from the GUI app. In most cases using Brainflow library, the GUI app is not even running. The Brainflow program is using 'Board ID' to talk directly to your board.
The GUI does have a 'Networking Widget' feature, which allows it to stream live data or recorded data, out to another app via various means. You can read the options available on this page:
https://docs.openbci.com/Software/OpenBCISoftware/GUIWidgets/#networking
If instead you wish to avoid using the GUI and just use Brainflow library to playback a recording, then use this Board ID,
https://brainflow.readthedocs.io/en/stable/SupportedBoards.html#brainflow-dummy-boards
Does it mean that I have to purchase the Cyton board before coding anything?
No, as I mentioned above, you can use the Brainflow 'dummy-board' feature to play back a recording. But you will need a recording from someone.
