Fitting leads/dry electrodes into electrode holder

I'm trying to hack together a way to fit FRI leads and FRI dry electrodes into the OpenBCI electrode holder to make some replacement electrodes. The leads do not connect to the electrodes in a way that will fit inside the OpenBCI electrode holder (pictures), and so I am considering snipping the end off the lead and soldering it to the electrode. Has anyone attempted this? Any advice or any ideas for leads that are more compatible with the OpenBCI electrode holders?

Can you use the existing leads that you have? In Ultracortex III, the stripped and twisted wire is just held between the two nuts.

If you want more lead material with connectors, types like this can work. (Cut off one end.)

Thanks, that's really helpful! I'm working with the MarkIV parts, so I'll give the jumper wires a try first. But good to know about the III method.

If you have Mark IV, then you just unscrew the "crimp nut" that attaches to the end of the bolt. The electrode and holder then come apart. The FRI electrode then replaces the previous one.
