dongle driver confusion / Zadig vs BLED112

I'm running windows 10 and followed the steps to install the WinUSB v6.1.7600.16835 driver on the "Low Energy Dongle" using Zadig. When I try to search for "CSR dongle" on the GUI however, OpenBCI Hub crashes with error: "OpenBCIHub Fatal Error: No compatible USB Bluetooth 4.0 device found!". If I restart everything and attempt to search for "BLED112 Dongle", the bottom of the GUI reports: "Failed to start Ganglion BLE Driver: please see [tutorials website]"

My laptop bluetooth is on and so is my ganglion. How do I fix this?

    Seb, hi.

Your easiest avenue is to purchase the BLED112 dongle from the shop,

The CSR dongle is deprecated and no longer recommended.

The built-in Bluetooth in your laptop will not be used. This is because there is so much variation in Windows laptop Bluetooth hardware.

    Sorry for the confusion.

    Regards,

    William

  • The dongle is named “low energy dongle” on my windows machine. How do I confirm if it’s the csr or the bled112 dongle?

The dongle came with a kit I purchased less than a month ago.

Dongle photo on the Shop page shows letters "BLED112" directly printed on usb plug.

  • Mine says bled112. When I attempt to search for a board it says failed to start ganglion ble driver.

Is this because I updated the driver with Zadig? If so how do I obtain the correct bled112 driver?

Can you try uninstalling the Zadig driver version? (Using Windows Restore?) BLED112 is a plain usb serial device (COM port), and does not have a driver.

If you have another laptop available, try using the BLED112 there, as a comparison.

  • So I uninstalled the device and deleted the driver, but it shows up in device manager under USB serial devices and not under COM which is where it was found on a different laptop.

When I attempt to connect, the GUI says failed to start Ganglion BLE driver. And if I attempt to search for the ganglion it says, CODE412: Error serial port not open.

Is there a link you could provide me that will install the correct driver I need for the BLED112 to be interpreted as a COM port and for the ganglion BLE driver to start ?
  • Just solved the issue, I used zadig to change the driver to CDC USB serial and everything is running along swimmingly
