Acquiring Marker Stream from OpenBCI GUI into BCILAB LabStreamingLayer

I would like to receive a marker stream from the OpenBCI GUI into BCILAB.

When I turn on Marker Mode the EEG stream freezes and so does the LSL output, and the output in MATLAB still hangs at 'Looking for a marker stream with type='''MarkerStream''''

How is marker mode used in conjunction with the LabStreamingLayer? Is a MarkerStream necessary for the LabStreamingLayer to function? I have a Cyton board.

I'm sure you are aware of this, the LSL marker streams are a way of recording external trigger events within the LSL framework.

Cyton can also record external trigger events via the new "Board modes" introduced in the V3 firmware. This is independent of LSL. So even if LSL markers are not working in your situation, the Cyton trigger recording can work.

See mode '/2' and '/3' in the above description. These Aux channels can be used to create trigger recordings. The '/4' "Marker mode", likely has no relationship to the LSL concept of "marker stream". That's my impression.
