3d Models for "Spikey Unit," "Flat Unit," and "Comfort Unit"

Hello everyone!

I'd like to download the 3D models for the injection-molded parts included in the "Print Your Own" pack. I'm getting close to purchasing a "Cyton + Daisy" pack from the store here, but ~$1k is a lot for my wallet so I'm trying to find ways to reduce the costs of the other components. I'm a machinist with access to a printer and CNC equipment, etc.

My plan is to machine the molded parts out of aluminum, as well as a dust cover for the Cyton board. Can anyone point me to the files?

Thank you very much

    Okay, I found the .STLs
My only issue is that .STL doesn't play nice with CAD/CAM software for the purposes of machining / modifying the models. I've tried converting the mesh, but there are too many triangles for my software to handle.

Any way I could get my hands on a parasolid (.x_t) version of the "Large Mark IV FULL" and injection molded parts?

What I want to do is make a generative design version of the headware and share it here.

    Hi Auto,

You can try emailing to contact at openbci.com.

Also, regarding machining headset parts out of aluminum or other metals. The comb/cone/electrodes themselves are plastic, plated with silver, then chlorided. Silver chloride electrodes. There could potentially be interactions between the different metal types. Sometimes this produces a battery effect; a common case being gold cup electrodes which chip, exposing the tin metal underneath. Something to be aware of. If your machined electrode holder had an insulating coating, would be less concern.

Also, exposed metal frameworks can act like antennas, picking up electromagnetic waves in the vicinity. This might be the case if the entire headset was metalic. But perhaps not if only the holders were. There may still be capacitive coupling effects involved, unclear.

    Regards,

    William

    Thank you William!
In that case, I will see if I can get the inserts black anodized. The headset will still be printed in abs or similar.
I will send an email to contact, and I will share the GD result if I manage to get it.

Thank you very much for the advice.
