Code Error 412? Failed to start BLE Driver?

So I'm totally new to this sort of stuff. 

I've been trying to connect my Ganglion Board to the OpenBCI_GUI through Bluetooth (CSR Dongle). 
The problem I mostly encounter (even with several attempts on two separate PCs) is a "Code Error 412: TypeError: Cannot read property 'state' of undefined". 
I've also been getting "Failed to start Ganglion BLE Driver"
  • I have my CSR 4.0 Dongle in the 3.0 USB port and have tried other USB ports.
  • I've used zadig to install the driver
  • I've got bluetooth on
  • My ganglion board blinks the blue LED light when it's supposed to.
  • I make sure to check that the OpenBCI_HUB is on.
  • I've restarted a few times with no luck.
Any information or insight as to what is happening would be appreciated.

    There are a number of these same Code 412 errors shown on the Github issues pages, not sure if there is any resolution there. Would some more informative error message be possible??

    I installed OpenBCI GUI v3,3,2 with zadig 2.3 following the installation guide.
    But once click "Bluetooth(CSR Dongle)", "Failed to start Ganglion BLE Driver" messge shows.
    my laptop uses Windows 10. 
    anyone help ?

    @Ahn, hi. I merged your new thread into this existing thread on the same issue.

    Can you look through some of the previous posts and links mentioned?

    @techsupport also suggests you try the 4.0.2 release shown on this page. Let us know if that works.

    But it still doesn't work!

    I installed OpenBCI Hub v2.0.2.  there is an error message as follows

    "OpenBCIHub Fatal Error", "LIBUSB_ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED"

    Hi All,

    Have you tried using the BLED112 driver? I hate to keep seeing errors with the CSR4 dongle.

    I don't have a CSR dongle anymore, I'll have to buy one to try to duplicate these errors.

    Thank you so much for responding! With your help I was able to resolve that original problem. However, now I have a new one:
    The old CSR4 dongle that I used was damaged so I bought a BLED112 from the OpenBCI shop. 
    • I set up the BLED112 by replacing its driver with zadig. 
    • I updated OpenBCI_GUI and Hub to 4.0.3 and 2.0.4
    But the dongle didn't show up as a bluetooth device in bluetooth settings, and I get an error message of "OpenBCIHub Fatal Error", "No compatible USB Bluetooth 4.0 device found!"

    I tried replacing the files with the 4.0.3 GUI and 2.0.3 Hub. The same error comes up, so I investigated the dongle itself. I opened Device Manager to see my Low Energy Dongle appear under Universal Serial Bus devices, and not under Bluetooth as did my CSR4 dongle.

    Hi 1bread,

    Oops, can you undo the "set up the BLED112 by replacing its driver with zadig". Zadig is no longer used with BLED112, and your driver replacement is likely confusing the situation. 

    When working properly the BLED112 just appears as a serial COM port (or /dev/tty* on Mac, Linux).

    You may be able to use your Windows control panel to back out any operating system changes,


    The plan is to update the documentation as soon as possible to avoid this confusion with the BLED112.

    Thank you for responding once again! I didn't quite understand what you meant by back out any operating system changes so I just reverted the BLED112 to its original driver from libwdi

    The driver version is 6.1.7600.16385

    And the digital signer is USB\VID_2458&PID_0001

    I hope all of that is what I'm supposed to be seeing. However the BLED112 doesn't appear a a serial COM port; it still appears as a Low Energy Dongle under Universal Serial Bus devices.

    I also get the same error message from OpenBCI Hub.

    Try to take your PC back to an earlier time with System Restore. The point I would pick is before you received the BLED112 and before you told Zadig to mess with it. I would also try uninstalling Zadig.

    @wjcroft So for users transitioning from CSR to BLED112, is uninstalling Zadig the only step? Trying to update the docs to fix issue https://github.com/OpenBCI/Docs/issues/163 relating to CSR EOL.

    Well, I'm not sure that both CSR and BLED112 capability can't exist on the same machine. The user above, 1bread, made the mistake of using Zadig to replace the BLED112 driver. Oops. He was mislead by the docs. If you have a CSR and just installed it normally with Zadig, I believe you can leave it installed. Since BLED112 uses a plain serial port, it has no special driver. Hence should not conflict with the CSR installation. Of course you only use one of these at a time.

    CSR Button has been removed from the latest version of the GUI. So CSR is now fully deprecated.

    I know that was the plan. But I'm still curious what all the Ganglion owners will do, who currently only possess the CSR dongle -- and it was generally working for them. Should they be advised to purchase a BLED112 dongle? Is this written in any of the docs? Should they be advised to use an earlier GUI / Hub if they want to continue using the CSR? Etc. 

    New purchasers as of last fall will be using the BLED112, since CSR was removed from the store at that time.
