Silver Silver Chloride Electrodes compared to tin or silver???

GuyGuy United States
Hello, I purchased the ultracortex headset and the dry comb electrodes and I have 3 questions.

1) How do I use the dry comb electrodes?  Do I unscrew the electrode that is attached the the plastic piece and then screw in the dry comb electrode?

2) Are these electrodes silver silver chloride?  i thought that silver silver chloride electrodes required paste or gel?

3) How does the signal quality of the silver silver chloride electrode compare with the tin electrodes that i was using that required conductive gel.

Thank you for your time.

    Guy,

    1. your Ultracortex came with 'short' comb electrodes. Are you saying you purchased additional 'long' comb electrodes? Have you tried your headset first with the default existing combs? Yes, you can replace the combs by using a screwdriver and carefully holding the "wire crimp nut" at the rear of the electrode holder assembly. The crimp nut is the nut holding the bolt / comb / holder together.

    2. all the Ultracortex electrodes are plastic underneath, then silver plated, then silver chlorided. No, do not use paste or gel, just use dry.

    3. there are some research papers on the web that compare electrode signal quality. Generally Ag-AgCl is at the top, then gold, silver, finally tin. Ag-AgCl is the only type that works dry.

So you must have gotten your GUI working with your EEG live signals?

    Congrats,

    William
