    Yes, all electrode types are compatible: gold, silver, tin, Ag-AgCl, etc.

    Note however that you should not generally mix electrode types, try to stay with one metal for all leads. Otherwise you can get battery effects.
  • Hi @wjcroft ;

    What material are the lead wires from OpenBCI made of? Do you see any problems with soldering the lead wire to a stainless steel thread that are sewn into a conductive cloth made of silver-coated nylon? I'm referring to Goverdovsky et al (2016) In-Ear EEG From Viscoelastic Generic Earpieces- Robust and Unobtrusive 24/7 Monitoring

    Aksel, hi.

    Lead wires on most electrodes are just (tin, sometimes nickel) plated stranded copper wire.

    The process you describe with soldering to stainless thread connected to silver coated nylon should work. The only thing you want to avoid with mixed metals is common contact with any form of electrolyte, such as sweat, conductive paste or gel. Mixed metals in an ionic water solution will form a battery / galvanic effect.
