Dementia and EEG

Hi,

I am complete new at this, I am trying to figure things out.

I offer personalized cognitive stimulation therapy program for seniors.

Any one know if the EEG could help me track that progress over time in clients with dementia.

I think it will be a great addition to my services and it can help me to adapt my therapies according with the results.

Thanks William, I will take a look later today.

I did some google search before I posted my question. I saw that the EEG is usually normal in people with mild Alzheimer's disease and many other types of dementia, EEG abnormalities do occur in delirium and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, which is a cause of dementia.

That is why I am confuse if it will work or not with my clients.

There is also the likelihood that EEG labs that test for dementia, might administer certain tests and tasks that the patient performs, while being monitored with the EEG. Thus the neurologists would be looking not at "brain idle" / eyes closed EEG, but rather how the brain responds when under load.
