edited June 2018 in Wifi Shield
Hi, I need your help, I  spend about 1 months and tried the cyton board connected with the WIFI shield, but I can't still succeed. I just bought the cyton board and WIF shield in April, I think their firmware be news, so I feel I don't need update the firmware, but I tried many times and I final failed. For they can work, I decide update their firmware,I am according to the tutorial to update the firmware succeeded. No my cyton is V3.1.1 and WIFI shield is V2.0.5, but when I run the OPENGUI and cilck the wifi configuration 'openbci board', it still shows: 'No Openbci Borad attached to WIFI shield', I have update many times the firmwave, it still shows the information. SoI haven't anyway, I have to get your help? I can pay for your help, if it is possible, I want to send the two board to you, let you help me debugging for me, then reurn to me.

Can I get your help?

    (1) are you running the latest GUI, also 3.1.1?

    With Hub v1.4.2 or v1.4.3?

    (2) is the Cyton ALONE, working with the GUI, using the dongle?

    (3) is the shield powered correctly as shown in the tutorial?

    (4) when you follow the shield tutorial steps, where does it go wrong?

    (5) have you tried emailing to contact at openbci.com, and explaining your situation?

    Regards,

    William

  • Thank you for your help. I just check my all process, I am according to the new links that you give me  renew the OPENBCI_GUI and the OPENBCI_HUB. Now my openbci_gui is V3.1.1, the openbci_hub is v1.4.2, the cyton firmware is V3.1.1, the WIFI shield is v2.0.5, all are the lastest. I checked my WIFI shield power, it is right. I use only 1  battery,and I put ext pwr switch on shield to on. My alll process both are right, but when I run the Openbci_gui, and cilck the wifi configuration 'openbci board', it still shows: 'No Openbci Borad attached to WIFI shield'. I don't know why?
    I have spent many more time to solve the problem, but I can't get succeed, please take some time to solve this problem for me, thank you so much.

    Here is my suggestion. We've tried all the 'simple' things to check. Now I would email contact at openbci.com and describe everything you have done. Include a link to this forum thread. Mentioning @openbci.

    However, you did not answer my questions numbered (2) and (4) above. Please provide that information with your email to contact and for reference, here in the forum as well.

    Regards,

    William

    Thank you, I also check the (2),(4), when I use WiFi shield, I didn't use dongle. When I follow the shield tutorial steps, I didn't find any wrong, I use the WiFi direct way to connect the computer, and when along use the cyton (with the dongle) or along use the WiFi shield to connect the computer, they are both good. Now I can still use the cyton with the dongle to get 250HZ EEG-data, but when I make the WiFi shield seat the cyton together to work, the OPENBCI_GUI show: No Openbci Borad attached to WIFI shield, it really bothers me, so I have to find you and get help.

    There are TWO modes of Wifi Shield operation:

    WiFi Shield Mode of Operation: Wifi Station and Wifi Direct.

    You say "alone using the WiFi Shield to connect to the computer, they are both good". Are you saying that Wifi Station works, but Wifi Direct fails?

    Please send an email to contact at openbci.com.

  • No, my means is my  WiFi shield can work by the two different way, alone using the WiFi shield to connect the computer (no connect the cyton board), it is good. WiFi station or WiFi direct are both good. When I make the WiFi shield seat the cyton board, the computer can direct connect the WiFi shield,  but the Openbci_Gui show: No Openbci Borad attached to WIFI shield.

    Go ahead and email contact at openbci.com. Also mentioning AJ Keller @pushtheworld, @openbci.
  • Hi!

    I'm curious as to why this is happening. Are the three LED lights on the wifi shield? Make sure you are powering the wifi shield from the Cyton!

    Thanks!

    AJ
  • Thank you, I just check my all step again and I found a little mistaken(NOTE Latest ChipKIT firmware may cause improper flashing of the device firmware. In such a case [No data stream from the board/No device ID and accelerometer ID after soft resetting the board] select the firmware version 1.3.1.), I am trying to correct, let me try to get it. Thank you very much.

    Thank my friends in the forum, now I have solved a problem,but I can't still get the EEG-data, my configuration as follows:
    1. computer system: windows8.1
    2.arduino version:1.8.5;
    3.ChipKIT firmware version:1.3.1; (flash cyton firmware is ok);
    4.Openbci HUB: V 1.4.2;
    5.Openbci_Gui V3.1.1;
    6.WiFishield :V2.0.5;

    their work status as follow picture:

    the cyton board can connect the WiFishield, but when I click the 'STRAT SYSYTEM' button, the GUI no work, I don't know why?

    my GUI configuration ,as last picture, I hope get the Openbci specialist suggest, thank you!

  • If you have external trigger circuitry connected to the Cyton/WiFi boards as shown here (http://openbci.com/forum/index.php?p=/discussion/1273/placing-triggers-in-data-with-button-press), it's possible that that circuitry is drawing enough current that your Cyton board is not receiving enough power to be detected (this is possible since the power demands are already high due to the WiFi board). That happened to me: When I disconnected the trigger circuitry the Cyton board was properly detected and the Gui was able to show data.
