Can you detect what people are hearing / reading using low-cost EEG devices?

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to detect what someone is hearing
during an EEG recording, or if it is possible to detect their 'inner
voice'?

Thanks,
Don

    Don, hi.

The article you mention is using direct surgically implanted cortical EEG. Scalp surface EEG loses much resolution. There are some groups working on EEG thought or command recognition. But I have not heard of any notable reports of success yet.

There are a number of EEG P300 speller programs. Search for P300 speller on the forum here to find Jeremy's tutorial (now a bit out of date.) This is a notable commercial version,

The P300 speller research developments continue to be reported,

    William
