Possibility of damaging electrodes

Hello, I have a set of dry/spiky electrodes but have been using these electrodes with conductive gel in order to increase signal-noise ratio. After the experiment, i would soak the electrodes in warm water to wash off all gel. My question is, does this cleaning process damage the electrodes?

Comments

  • Probably not. It matters whether the spiky electrodes are made of a conductive material or whether they are made of a nonconductive material but have a conductive coating, since a coating might wash off in some situations, though probably not with just soaking in water. Make sure, if they are the coated type, that the coating is compatible with the gel and won't be removed by the gel.

  • Great! Thank you!
