Anyone from Berlin, Germany using a Cyton?

I ordered the wifi-shield but need to upgrade my cyton firmware to 3.0 to use it, but my bluetooth dongle is broken ...
Anyone for a beer and a friendly eeg chat?

  • Quite a coincidence... I just set up my own user account to submit a post about my technical problems and the first post I see is yours, being only minutes old. I'm Berlin-based and would never reject a nice chat that comes along with a beer.
I have a Cyton and the bluetooth dongle is doing fine, I'm not sure if the Cyton board itself is all that well, though. But I'll be happy to help you out on flashing your firmware.

  • Hey @Derek and @ulf2us have you joined neurotechx? http://neurotechx.com

I see there is a munich channel with 16 people in it so you may have luck tracking down people there!

Hey @pushtheworld, thanks for the hint! Ulf and I actually got together last week and were able to aid one another to overcome our technical difficulties, so that almost makes us a tech group ;-) And I do recall Ulf visiting the neurotechx-website. Unfortunately, the Munich local server muc.neurotechx.com seems to be down. And with all affection and due respect for my home town of Munich, it should be possible to pull something off in Berlin. I just don't know if Ulf as an artist with a passion for visualizing bio-signals and some experience with Arduino hardware and software and I, a clinical neurologist who virtually looked up "Arduino" on Wikipedia last week, are able to inspire enthusiasm in such a tech-savvy field and bring people together. We do have beer, though.
  • You should still signup for the slack group (click "join us") and start a Berlin channel!!! I'm sure you're not alone! Maybe you can, at the very least, expand your beer group!

Also that's so cool y'all met up and solved each other's problems!!!

  • It all brews down to beer..! Yes, it was very cool - but to give credit where credit is due, the problem-solving was basically accomplished by @wjcroft and Ulf and I were just dividing work... "So you hold the jumper cables really steadily to the contacts on the Cyton while I press 'upload'!"

@Derek @ulf2us Berlin, Beer and biosignals sound cool. I'll bring my cyton, if you inform me about the next meeting... and of course some beer ;)

@Derek it looks like we started a cyton Meetup?
    Should we meet?
  • Hi,

I'm a Cognitive Science Student thinking about using OpenBCI for my Master thesis, so if the Berlin Meetup is happening, I would also like to join. Else would it be possible to get a demo? I'm clueless about beer, but I could bring some wine ;)

    Oops,

I completely overlooked your last message, @ulf2us. Sorry for not reading my emails properly.
But great, sounds like we're actually gaining momentum :-)

I set up a doodle, called Brains N' Beers (and yes, wine drinkers are welcome), to be found here:
    https://doodle.com/poll/z239d5yqg8r8cs72
Options include any day from March 26 through end of June (even though I can't really tell myself beyond April since I get my shift schedule only 4 weeks ahead of time.
    Any suggestions concerning a location?

    Cheers,
    Derek
  • This is still my favorite forum post on the OpenBCI website :)

Hey, so it's only me who didn't vote by now. From what I can tell, I am
only available on April, 11th, however, I can't promise. So please do not wait for me. If the meeting takes place at that
    date please let me know time and location and I try my best to make it possible: j o m e i x [ at ] p o s t e

    Hi all,

So, we have a small but exquisit group of 4 (with jeyem maybe five) participats by now - maybe my lady will be joining, too; after all, it's her who is trying to run polysomnography on Alpakas, not me. I'm merely the technician here.
Judging from the doodle, Wednesdays seem to be overall most convenient. Therefore, I would propose to fix April 11 as the first Berlin Brains N' Beers meet Waves N' Wines (BBBWW) meeting.

Any suggestions for a nice bar are very much welcome!

    Cheers,
    Derek
  • Hey *,

    Hi Ulf et al.,

    The place looks great!
Unfortunately, I just realized that I messed up and can't make it this Wednesday.
Would it be alright to postpone it one week? Otherwise, I'll be joining on our second gathering ;-)

    Cheers,
    Derek
  • For me it would be ok..
  • Hey everybody,

Wednesday next week is fine for me too.

    Derek

    Hey guys,

We will be joined by Jack coming all the way from Magdeburg and he asked if it were alright to meet at 7 or 7.30 pm instead of 8, because he will have to catch a train back by 10. So I will be at the bar at 7 pm, feel free to come earlier as well!
    Cheers,
    Derek

  • I will be there at 7 .. looking forward
