Cannot connect to Cyton from dongle

edited January 2018 in Cyton
After following the tutorial steps to program the cyton radio and dongle radio, and update each firmware, I try to connect to the device in OpenBCI GUI. This is the result:

I select "Live (from Cyton)"
I select the correct COM port.
I check status and channel (GUI reports "Success: Host and Device on Channel number: 20)
I click "START SYSTEM"
The GUI freezes and becomes completely unresponsive. Sometimes after several minutes it will report that it timed out trying to connect to the device.

This is a video of what I'm doing, which matches my description above:

EDIT: I'm going to attempt to flash all three devices (Both radios and the Pic32) with all latest firmware and see if that solves this problem. Will post results.

The dongle is in the "GPIO_6" position, and the Cyton switch is in the "PC" position.

Comments

  • I'm not the first person to work with this hardware, and it is possible that some (or any) of the device firmware is of mismatched versions. Can that cause this problem?
  • Update: Both radios and the host firmware have been updated with the latest versions, but no effect on behavior.
