electrodes placement with headset

Hi. I use a EEG headset MARK IV. I would like to know how you make sure that your electrodes are at the good locations. So what I have been doing so far is to first find the Cz location by measuring the head with a tape measure and then try to adjust the headset properly according to the Cz location. However, I don't really know how to mark the central location, I was using paper tape, but it moves a little on the hair and also I have to eventually pull it out to record. So I'm not quite sure that my technique is right and how accurate the placement of the electrodes has to be. Thanks for your advice!

    Hannah, hi.

    The tape measure technique with the 10-20 system is always the most accurate,


    However a general rule of thumb that is employed by many neurofeedback practitioners, is that T3 and T4 are just above the tops of the ears, then follow that line up to the vertex of the head, that is Cz. C3 and C4 are halfway down from Cz, towards T3 and T4.

    If the Ultracortex is sitting level on the head, with O1 and O2 contacting at the occiput area, and Fp1 Fp2 on the forehead, then you should be fine.
