Hey!
I need help regarding usb chip of cyton board 8 channel, actually the problem is that the usb works fine only once it is connected and it do show "SYSTEM IS UP", but when I try to do the same next time even after a gap of just 5 minutes, the usb option doesn't show up!!!
Even after restarting the system, the same problem occurs, usb isn't detected, what could be the possible solutions for this?
I'm using ubuntu 16.04 64-bit!
Thank You.

Do you have a Windows system you can test with nearby? This could be a problem with your Ubuntu or it's drivers.

Can you just save your important files onto an external drive, then reload with a fresh Ubuntu? Or it could even be a problem with your hardware on your laptop, such as a bad usb port. If you have both USB 2 and USB 3 ports, try a different port.

If the Cyton works WITH ANY other computer, the problem is NOT with Cyton, but with your computer. We can't really help you with that.

Okay, Thank You, I'll check the Cyton again to make sure there isn't a problem with it.

However, it actually doesn't recognize any usb after being used once, that one time it works all well though. I guess it tell there isn't hardware problem and with the OS, it's freshly installed, earlier I was using Windows, its just a month or two since I'm using ubuntu.

@aarohi1510001, hi. Please log any future comments on THIS current thread and NOT on the other thread,

This current thread is more specific to your particular issue with the Ubuntu and "works only once".

  • @aarohi1510001 did you find a solution to this problem?
  • aarohi1510001aarohi1510001 Ghaziabad, Delhi
@pushtheworld - Didn't find the actual solution but temporarily "After each use, I've to restart the processing software and load BCI GUI". Earlier I used to press "start system" button again and again for taking new data because there wasn't really any need of restarting the software. I don't know why it's happening? Maybe I need to re-install the software. However, temporarily it's working. Thank You for the help @pushtheworld and @wjcroft

Also, I am facing another problem. I have to take data from points O1 and O2. I have connected channel 4 to O1 and 8 to O2. I was getting correct data at channel 8 but at channel 4 it was producing a lot of noise.

    1. I tried changing the channel from 4 to 2, but still same issue.
    2. I tried interchanging the channels that is, 4 to O2 and 8 to O1, (thinking that maybe the position of O1 and O2 were incorrect, so channel 4 should give correct data instead channel 8 should produce noise now,) but still the same problem occurred. Even at different positions channel 8 was showing correct data, for eg- giving peak value at 10Hz when subject's eyes were closed, but channel 4 had lots and lots of noise.

Have you tried swapping around your various electrode leads? You could have an intermittent connector at either the scalp side or header pin. Are you using the gold cups, or a headset? Connecting three or more of the leads: channel, reference, bias -- should produce close to 0 microvolts if everything is hooked up well.

  • @aarohi1510001 Could you try updating to the latest GUI to see if the problem goes away?
