computer no longer recognizing Cyton dongle

edited September 2017 in Cyton
We have two 8ch OpenBCI Cyton boards where both their dongles are no longer being recognized in the OpenBCI GUI.  We have tried them on multiple computers (mac and pc) and multiple versions of the OpenBCI GUI with no luck.  The blue light does turns on when you plug it in.

Any idea on what happened?

Can you confirm that the dongles are not being recognized by the OS? In Windows they become COM ports in the Device Manager. On Mac, they show up in /dev. Do you have the recommended FTDI drivers installed?
  • @armz12 Is this problem still persisting? Strange that two dongles went down at the same time unless both were damaged at the same time.
  • We were able to get it working.  Not exactly sure what happened.

    Thanks!
  • I bet, and just speculating, but the dongle was still connected (serial port open) while the dongle was removed crashing the ftdi vcp driver for that USB port
  • If that did happen, what would you do to fix it?
  • I would reboot my comptuer!
