"Failed to connect to data source..." after updating cyton to v3

edited September 2017 in Cyton
Hy,

I updated my cyton board to v3.0.0 rc6 using the arduino ide and built in library manager. Flashing the new firmware seems to working fine, but when I'm trying to connect the bluetooth dongle with the OpenBCI v3 GUI on Arch Linux and on all of my USB Ports I'm getting:

Are you running the GUI as root (with sudo?) Linux seems to need that to access serial ports.

Are you sure the dongle radio channel agrees with the Cyton mainboard radio channel? You are getting the serial connection to the dongle ok via Arduino IDE terminal. Unclear if the issue is the GUI, radio channel, firmware upgrade, etc.

Can you try this same Cyton with Mac or Windows?

  • Thanks for your fast reply

Starting the GUI as sudo and choosing manually channel 1 for the radio works for me, unfortunately now channel 1 shows a lot of noise and I can't bring it down when putting SRB, BIAS and CHANNEL_1 together.

Have you tried swapping around your electrode wires to eliminate the possibility of a noisy connector, cable, or solder joint? How are you "putting SRB BIAS and CHAN" together? With paste, with clips?

All the other channels are working ok? Was this Cyton working on all 8 channels before the upgrade?
