Bluetooth on Cyton Board

Hi all,

I am working on one project in which I need to capture EEG signal from patients. I am using Cyton 32bit board. But the limitation is I need to keep my laptop right near the patient to get the EEG signal. In the tutorials I read that BLE is same as PC switch on Cyton Board. So, want to know, is there any way to make use of bluetooth on Cyton V3- 32 bit board instead of dongle?  or to incorporate  Bluetooth breakout boards (HC-05)?
If yes then how to do that?

Thank you

  • On this link its written that:
The BLE is not implemented in the stock firmware. Hence the BLE position is just equivalent to the other 'on' position.
Does this mean Bluetooth cannot be used in Cyton Board?
Still I have doubt about HC 05, If its possible to use this then how ?

    Thank you

The OpenBCI "wifi shield" should be available shortly. Take a look at that Category in the right column.

Correct, BLE code is not in Cyton, it uses a different radio protocol. However if you use Search box at right for "AlphaWave", you'll find a V1 firmware variant by Hassan that sends limited bandwidth info via BLE. BLE is very limited in data throughput rate, that's why the Cyton radios use Nordic Gazelle protocol.

There are also several threads on use of the HC-xx breakout boards, as previous search link showed.
