dongle not recognised by Openvibe acquisition server running in VM

Hi all,

following documentation on openvibe : http://openvibe.inria.fr/drivers-openbci/ & http://docs.openbci.com/3rd%20Party%20Software/03-OpenViBE

and openbci for a windows 7 VM : http://docs.openbci.com/Tutorials/12-Win7_VM_Installation

I installed the last version of OpenVibe 1.3.0 on a windows 7 VM and with the FTDI 32 bits driver.

But I am experiencing issues with the Openvibe Acquisition server .

[INF] OpenBCI:Successfully opened port [//./COM4]

[INF] OpenBCI:Stopping board streaming...

[INF] OpenBCI:Soft reseting of the board...

[ERROR] OpenBCI:The attached device does not look like an OpenBCI device

[ERROR] Connection failed...

[INF] Disconnecting.

VM setup is tricky since the USB ports are emulated also. Can you just use a plain old Windows laptop?

Or use Boot Camp to dual boot your Mac hardware into true Windows OS.

Windows laptops such as the HP Stream are very inexpensive these days, only around $200.

I just got the same error. Try to unplug the USB Dongle and plug it back. It worked for me.
