Interested Customer with Questions
Hey there! I'm interested in purchasing an Ultracortex Mark IV EEG Headset and Cyton Biosensing Board (8-channel), and would like to ask some questions:
How accurate is the Ultracortex Mark IV EEG Headset and Cyton board with providing signals? I understand that noise is a concern with EEG.
How many areas of the brain can it access? It could receive signals from the surface of the brain fairly easily, but what about deeper down in the Cerebral cortex? The Limbic system?
Also, I noticed that the shop page for the Ultracortex Mark IV headset features a link for a 500mAh 3.7V battery (Adafruit), and one for a 400mAh 3.7V battery (Sparkfun). Does it matter how much charge a battery contains when using it with that headset? How long does a 500mAh charge last for, typically?

This recent paper by Jeremy Frey compares a g.tec amp with OpenBCI.
Both amps connected to the same active cap. G.tec equipment costs tens of thousands of dollars, so we came out quite well.

Surface EEG pulls from a wide area of cortex. To pick out specific voxel areas you need to do source localization, which typically requires 19 or more channels. Limbic system not very easy to see because it is not cortex, no pyramidal cells generating dipole currents. But some high end systems such as Brainmaster Discovery / Avatar do provide an ROI for limbic. Not sure how accurate.
Any battery will work. Not much difference in these two.
