TI Eval kit + Android logging
Our group is likely to go to OpenEEG system for our experiments. However, it may be while before you fellow have them in "production". I am anxious for us to work with the 1299 chip. Would you recommend getting the chip and making a board or getting the TI demonstration board and system. Both have advantages. This is a really exciting time to be a maker!

TI's purpose with the software is to give you a tool that allows you to easily examine and change the various register settings on the ADS1299 so that you can see how to invoke its various function. For this narrow goal, the software is successful.
What the software does not easily do is allow you to actually collect EEG data. For example, as far as I can tell, you tell the software how long a data sample you would like, you hit record, and then it goes off and records data with no live updates to the screen to let you know how it is doing. This lack of any real-time feedback is the key problem with using the TI system to collect actual EEG data.
With that said, it is entirely possible that one could use the TI board in a different kind of hardware setup or with different software. The TI hardware is actually two boards...a daughter card with the ADS1299 and a generic main board with a microcontroller to interface to the PC. I think that I've heard of people lifting off the ADS1299 daughter card and servicing it with an Arduino. If that is possible, that could be a decent enough solution, if you can get it to work.
Sorry i can't be more help with the TI board, but there's the story of my experience with it.
Chip
Once again thank you very much. Contrary to your opinion you were very helpful. I will get some chips and "hack up' instead of "hacking down". (after I get this dragon slain). With regards to the sd speed I found some libraries that are quite fast. Implementing them may be a little difficult as I believe most of them are part of a RTOS (operating system) and designed for a situation where the micro controller has control of the timing of the reading an writing. With the mind wave by Neurosky the rate is determined by the remote. I am sure it is fixable but will takes some effort. The code is well written so that will make it easy.
My project with these beasts is as an aid to meditation, I meditate twice a day. There are several investigation possible. If nothing else a smarter biofeedback, For grins will try dome ICA. None of this is rocket surgery but it is fun.

Link there to Arduino to Eval board info.
Thanks! It looks like the ADS129x can be patched into a Teensy. Looks good. I will probably order the kit and a raw chip. that way we will have something to use while fabricating.
I will keep your team informed if we manage to get any useful software or hardware. We have some really good Java folks who have convinced me we c=should be able to make an Andriod data logger. Wish we could do it in FORTRAN
