Dongle not recognized / not being identified by the GUI.

Hi all,
I recently got a Cyton Biosensing board, but I’m having trouble connecting it to the OpenBCI GUI. When I plug in the dongle, it flashes red briefly and then turns blue, which I believe means it is working. However, when I open the OpenBCI GUI, no device appears.
In Device Manager, the dongle shows up under Other Devices as an unknown device. I tried installing the FTDI driver, but I’m not sure if I installed it correctly, and the device is still not recognized.
I’m also having another issue where the OpenBCI GUI will not open properly. When I click the application, it often does nothing. If I repeatedly click it, it sometimes opens, but it gets stuck on a white screen and freezes, and I cannot close the app.
If anyone has experienced this before or knows how to fix either of these problems, I would really appreciate your help. Thank you!

    Hi KingBob,

Have you tried running your session on a different computer? In the past, if the computer has graphics drivers issues, such as old drivers, then the GUI cannot start properly. To search for new drivers, go to your manufacturer's website, support area.

Mention what hardware you are using, OS, etc.

    Hey William,
I am using a new Windows laptop that we bought about a month ago. It is the HP OmniBook 5. I even tried it on another computer, but we ran into the same problem.

Have you emailed to customer support? Send to (contact at openbci.com). This will create a ticket so the engineers can take a look. Has your Cyton board EVER worked correctly? If not, it is possible your mainboard or dongle is defective.

I am actually lending mine from someone else, who hasn't used it in a while. They haven't reported any problems when in use. It might be possible that the dongle has disconnected from the mainboard. Do you happen to know how to repair it?
