More than 95% packet loss when attached to head.

I want to capture the effect of head movement on EEG data. I attached the cyton board to head so i can track the movement of head by leveraging the accelerometer on the chipset. But i experience over 95% packet loss when doing so..particularly doing head movement. Any suggestions?

The suggestion here is to put the Cyton dongle on a usb extension cord, and drape it over your monitor frame, so it is closer to your head. Or you can pin the dongle to your shirt. Also check to see if there are other electromagnetic noise sources in your environment: LED lamps, wireless sources, power supplies, extension cords, etc.

but there's very little packet loss if a keep the chipset on a flat surface

WHERE is the dongle located? If the dongle for example is plugged into a laptop, and the laptop is sitting on a metal table surface, then the radio packet signals transmitted / received from the dongle will be weakened because the metal is acting as a ground plane / antenna.

Same situation if the dongle is plugged into a desktop computer with metal surfaces nearby.

This is why I previously suggested placing the dongle on a usb extension cord, and draping it over the top of your monitor / display.

This gets the dongle out in the open, away from any signal attenuators.
