EEG Research - High Cost

Hello!
I am an independent researcher and I'm interested in doing my own research using EEG, but I don't get any funding, and the boards are really expensive.. $1000 is a lot for me.

The research I want to do will probably require more than a basic 4-band EEG. Are there any discounts? What are my options?
