Intermittent Disconnection After ~4 Hours – Battery Charging Frequency?
Hi everyone,
I'd like to ask: how often does the Ganglion board typically need to be recharged? In our case, the device started disconnecting intermittently after only around four hours of use.
Unfortunately, this happened during the middle of an active experiment, and we ended up losing some user data due to the unexpected dropouts.
We'd really appreciate any insights into the expected battery performance and whether others have experienced similar issues.
Thanks in advance!

You can choose any battery capacity you wish.

battery life in hours = battery capacity in milliamp-hours divided by 15 ma.
Hi William,
Thanks so much for your help! We actually purchased the Biosensing Starter Bundle (https://shop.openbci.com/products/biosensing-starter-bundle), but when I check the Ganglion Board page (https://shop.openbci.com/collections/frontpage/products/ganglion-board) I only see that it comes with a “lithium polymer battery and charger,” with no mention of its capacity in mAh. Do you know what the battery’s rated capacity is?
Thanks again!
I saw on the battery that it’s rated at 3.7 V, 500 mAh. Thank you very much!
Hi William,
Thanks again for all your help. I’ve got one more question: our 3.7 V 500 mAh battery only lasted about four hours, so I’m wondering how long a full recharge should take with the charger included in the Ganglion Board package (https://shop.openbci.com/collections/frontpage/products/ganglion-board). I’ve been charging for around three hours now, but the indicator still reads “CHA” instead of “END.” Does that mean it’s still charging? Any idea when it should switch to “END”?
Really appreciate your insight!
The charger appears to be from Adafruit. See this document:

The pdf suggests you can change the charge rate with either a jumper or a switch.
Thanks William!!!!
