Dry/reusable EMG electrode
in Electrodes
Hi,
Does anyone know if there are still commercial dry/reusable EMG electrodes compatible with openBCI that can be purchased? I saw there's a IDUN dryode in the openBCI shop page but it's sold out. When i check IDUN they seem to have deleted it as a stand-alone product...
Thanks in advance!

You could email IDUN and ask if any are still available:

The text on their in-ear EEG system 'Guardian', says that the conductive rubber earpiece employs the same technology as the original 'Dryode'. Possibly they sell some other parts made from the same material.
I see lots of results from this search:

Such as:

Frankly they look just like the silver chloride (plated on silver) that you are already familiar with.
This paper look worth exploring.

Thanks William,
I'll try to contact IDUN. i've seen the wearablesensing electrodes too. Do you know if they are compatible with openBCI boards like Cyton? I'll read the paper you linked, it's funny that it's from my alma mater and a few of the authors were my classmates!

Suggest asking the WearableSensing people, what exactly they use inside the electrode. It's probably just a plain silver chloride dry electrode.
The IDUN tech is supposed to be different. They found some way to embed tiny 'hairs' in the surface that make better contact. For example they claimed the Dryodes would work well for swimmer underwater.
The fact that they no longer promote or sell the Dryodes is curious. My guess is that their profit margin on that product was much lower than their current Guardian system.
I see, thanks William. Do you think then it's possible to measure EMG with the openBCI plain silver chloride electrode (maybe with some 10-20 paste)? Re IDUN, I was thinking the same thing, if that's true it would be a bit sad...
Yes, the Shop buttons seem identical to what WearableSensing is doing.

Unclear if you need an electrolyte. Try without first, since that seems to be what WearableSensing does. You could also just compare that against moistening the skin with water or saline solution. EMG signal is so much stronger than EEG, that likely electrolyte is not needed. Also note the Emotibit also appears to use dry electrodes.

Great, thanks a lot William!
