Can I use my M1 Air Mac Bluetooth instead of the USB dongle?
Is it possible to use the builtin Bluetooth in my Mac instead of the USB dongle?
What are the implications? (I do have the dongle - just curios)
I'm asking for aesthetic purposes (plus being more easier to carry the laptop without it).

Yes, you can use the native Bluetooth on newer Macs. The OpenBCI_GUI uses Brainflow library under the hood. Brainflow supports TWO device classes for Ganglion. 'Ganglion', which uses the dongle serial port, and 'Ganglion Native' that uses the built-in Bluetooth hardware in the computer.

Wow that seems to work - great! Thanks for the help.
Btw can we also have the GUI support that too if possible?
Mentioning Richard @retiutut, the GUI dev.
I may be wrong, but I thought that the GUI already supported this for M1 M2 Macs. That was why it was added to Brainflow library. Richard will know status.
I mean it does but I need to select the dongle:
However - I'm cloning the repo myself and I might just fix it and add a PR.
Well I believe the intention was for the GUI to offer a selection box with the 'native' option. Might be in progress already, hopefully @retiutut will reply. OR... it might be such that the GUI detects when native would be appropriate.
The PR is completed and has been merged into the
developmentbranch! It will be included in the next release of the GUI.https://github.com/OpenBCI/OpenBCI_GUI/pull/1090
This can be tested by anyone while running the development branch from Processing. https://docs.openbci.com/Software/OpenBCISoftware/GUIDocs/#running-the-openbci-gui-from-the-processing-ide
Yeah I just had issues with that - for some reason the JNI brainflow dynlibs can't be loaded.
I tried various options but it was not successful - but maybe I'll try again for this PR.
