Problem connecting hardware.

Followed instructions
Have a wifiboard plugged in too

Plug in dongle
Turn on board (green and red leds) ocasionally shortcircuit and dim and flash, but once that problem isint happening

open up bci software.
No dropdown menu for locating serial port
No switch on dongle either.

Registers dongle but cant connect to the board.
Does flash on dongle when board is turned on. So there is some signal it does register.
Battery pack is plugged into cyton board no wificard
Fresh batteries.

Tried multiple sequences but still cant connect.

Would love some help.
Or a link to some software that actually can register the cyton board. Read another forum from a lad in philadelphia who managed to get this working by locating the right serial port.
Instruction manual is outdated to latest update.

Does it automatically search for ports?
Am inmissing a dropdown menu somewhere?
.
Any help is appreciated.

Have not connected headset yet

    Hi Diff,

I don't understand. Is this a recent purchase direct from OpenBCI? Where was it purchased? Has the system ever worked correctly? OpenBCI no longer sells the Wifi board, so this is odd.

You should unplug the Wifi board and just attempt to use the mainboard and dongle. Please follow tutorial.

  • I have unplugged the wifiboard. Leds strong no flickers. Still unable to connect. Just a v3 daisy and cyton board bought off aliexpress. V3 32.

Is it a clone because its looks identical to an original one.

    But the 945 dollar version.

  • Still. Not working though

I suggest you look at the "fine print" on the product listing on the Chinese site:

    75-Day Buyer Protection
    Money back guarantee

It seems these Chinese companies are selling rip-off clones of OpenBCI designed products, without even testing that they work. Open source software is not the same as open source hardware.

  • How can i fiz this and are you sure its a ripoff.

The only official OpenBCI products are sold on this website:

    https://shop.openbci.com

The Chinese rip-offs do not even test their products before shipping, and likely have no customer support.

Have you tried the instructions in section 5? Expand the dropdown menu. Commands such as AUTOSCAN or checking the radio channels.

    https://docs.openbci.com/GettingStarted/Boards/CytonGS/#5-optional-settings

  • Yep nothing shows. Connects to dongle. But not cyton board. Do i need to restart my computer before the program works fully? Didnt think that was nessesary. Due to the dongle and the cyton board interacting with eachother with the wifi board on it will try that now

Did you run OpenBCI_GUI AUTOSCAN?? This function tries to connect the radio channels of the RFduino chip in the dongle, to the RFduino chip on the mainboard. If that is failing, then you have defective hardware.

The Wifi Shield does not work properly with Cyton, and has not been sold in the Shop for a long time.
