Difference between HEGduino 2 and BioComp nIR HEG

edited November 2022 in General Discussion

Hi
Is there a significant quality difference in training with the BioComp nIR HEG (that is commonly used with Q-Wiz or Peanut) using LIFE game versus training with HEGduino 2 and its opensource software.

I am looking to understand the quality difference in the hardware. I am not sure about the software as well since the developer of HEGduino 2 said he used commonly available SpO2 algorithms for measuring activity and there are not much details or case studies available beyond that.

    Hi Brahmasmi,

Have you considered asking this question on their own Forum?

    https://www.hegalpha.com/forum

Or on Pete Van Deusen's / Brain-Trainer forum?

The OpenBCI Shop previously sold the V1 HEGduino, but neither V1 nor V2 versions are currently listed. There may also be feedback channels at CrowdSupply, where they are still sold.

  • Thanks William!
Have you worked with V1 HEGduino and can you please share your thoughts if you have?

I've used the V1 in the past, but not recently. The built-in biofeedback displays DO work to increase your pre-frontal blood flow. Josh Brewster does very good work and continually updates his apps and firmware. I would expect the V2 to be even better.

Unfortunately I have not used the other manufacturer's HEG products. So cannot do comparisons. I still suggest you post on the forum links I gave.

  • Customer support of CrowdSupply says that V2 is currently not in stock and it could be months before it will become available again.
Will ask on HEG alpha and brain-trainer forums about differences as well. Thanks for the links.

Josh has the most accurate dates on V2 production. He is the one who arranges the board production in China and ships the units to CrowdSupply.
