Hi,

  • While getting logs from one of the SD Card after a data recording using OpenBCI Cyton + Daisy, we saw strange behavior in file name, which we are unable to rename, nor copy or open it in any editor.
  • This we have observed it for the very first time, and this is the first occurance.

While copying the above files, we get these error:

While trying to edit it using any editor, we get the following:

While renaming the file, we get below message:

@wjcroft @retiutut Waiting for your valuable inputs.

    Hi Pluto,

Sorry to hear this is happening. Not sure what is causing the unusual file names. For example, were the unusual names created first on the Cyton mainboard firmware / SD card hardware? Or did the unusual names happen somewhere in the GUI? Richard @retiutut may have insights.

In the meanwhile, this official Windows utility, may be able to rename the files:

    https://www.thewindowsclub.com/powerrename-powertoy-for-windows-10

Found that when I did this search:

    https://www.google.com/search?q=windows+cannot+rename+file

There may be other relevant results in that list.

Let us know if this is a temporary workaround for your situation.

    William

This is very strange. My first thought is that the firmware has been corrupted. Has the Cyton been re-flashed after purchase?
