What is the purpose of read_board function in PyOpenBCI

Hi,
I am using one deprecated repo: PyOpenBCI (I know this is a depricated repo, but it will be great if I could get any help on this, thanks)
under which in cyton.py there is one function called as read_board( ), I am unable to get what is the function of this function?
