headset for 2014 OpenBCI Board V3.8 ? [resolved]
I have an OpenBCI kit from one of the first Kickstarter programs in 2014. It's version 3.8, and came with the board, gel, electrodes, shirt etc.
I'm looking back at this board now for a potential project, but my earlier experience was not that great. I did not have a headset to mount the electrodes, and it was just very hard to work with the mangle of wires. I also did not have access to a 3D printer at the time to make any sort of headset.
Now, I am near a major city (Philly) and have access to 3D printers in a number of maker spaces. Is it still possible to 3D print a headset at a low cost for this board? If so, what's the best option?
Is it even worth using the v3.8 board now? If I decided to sell it, would anyone be interested?

Hello Shiva,
Did you purchase this board yourself? Have you ever upgraded the firmware? 2014 boards may be of two processor types: 8 bit, which is not upgradable, or 32 bit, 'chipKIT' / 'PIC32', which CAN be upgraded. Do you see the 'chipKIT' logo on the top of the board?
A headset is not necessary to use Cyton. It can be used with cup electrodes and paste, headband with dry electrodes, electrode elastic cap, saline based electrodes, etc. If you DO want to print an Ultracortex, instructions for that are online, as well as the additional parts kit you will need:

There was no "version 3.8", but perhaps you are seeing on the top, something like "V3 - 8", instead of the needed "V3 - 32" to be upgradable.

Thanks for the response. Yes, it's "3 - 8" rather than "3.8". So I have the 8 bit board, which is not upgradable.
