Battery setup / polarity

edited May 2021 in Cyton

About to take the plunge and plugin my Cyton and headset and hoping someone can confirm that using 4xAA batteries in the supplied holder (see pic) is ok. The info on the battery set up in the OpenBCI docs is a bit sketchy and the recommended adafruit options are not available in the UK.

Thanks!

When I use such a lithium battery, is there any problem that the board doesn't work

If it is not working, check the polarity of your white plug. It's NOT an international standard, which of the two pins is positive. You could reverse polarity by cutting and splicing the wires. OpenBCI uses the same pin polarity as Adafruit batteries.

The technical name for this plug is JST-PH. Notice how your OpenBCI AA holder is wired.

Thank you very much. The problem has been solved. It's the problem of the positive and negative poles of the power supply
