EMG Cross talk with Independent Referencing? [resolved]

edited March 2021 in Cyton

Hi William,
Do you have any experience with independent referencing stop being independent? I'm doing left and right arm emg's using two separate references (SRB2 and pin 8P). I've had no issues with it before and have been able to see each sides' separate squeezes. I originally based this wiring using the set up docs, and have not changed it.

Thank you,
JT

    JT, hi.

Usually for EMG channels, these could wired differentially. For example IN8N - IN8P, as you are doing, then IN7N - IN7P, etc.

For each EMG channel, use the GUI Settings panel to disconnect them all from SRB2 bus. This way you could still use IN1N through IN6N as EEG channels with SRB2 as reference.

If you are still getting cross talk on EMG channels, it's possible that there could be some kind of inductive / capacitive coupling between your EMG wires. Avoid twisting them all in a bundle. Just let the wires fall naturally separate.

    Regards, William

  • Yes, I think the wires were the problem. It's working fine now!
Thank you so much for your help (it is greatly appreciated),
    JT
