Dongle no longer recognized by any computer - Straight Blue Light

Main Problem
A couple of days ago my OpenBCI Cyton dongle was working fine. Today, I tried connecting it but it wasn't recognized (no Windows sound, no COM port appearing, no device in Device Manager). Similar to this and this (more like what fzwind reported) discussions, when I plug it in, the solid blue LED turns on but it won't be recognized.
Obs.:
- No modifications were made (neither to hardware nor firmware)
- The recommended FTDI Driver re-installation did not work
- Red LED is not flashing when plugged
- I'm using Windows 10
- I did not install any new software on the computer since the last time the dongle worked
How should I proceed? Is there anything else I can try?

Matheus, hi.
Have you tried the dongle on another computer, to eliminate issues with the OS or usb port?
William
Hello @wjcroft,
Yes, I did try it in another Windows and the same behavior occurs.
If the dongle does not show up as a COM port, then that precludes re-flashing the firmware. If this was a recent purchase, you could ask for a replacement. Otherwise replacements are listed in the shop.

If recent purchase, email to support at openbci.com and ask how to proceed.

@wjcroft, but what causes this? Is there any way to prevent this in the future?
One possibility is that exposed circuit boards, may allow static electricity discharges to circuit traces and chips. This can damage such electronics. The disclaimer warns about this.
