Cyton, Reference and Ground electrodes, same as SRB2, Bias?

edited October 2020 in Cyton

Hi,
1) I would like to compare registrations between a clinical EEG system with wet electrodes and Cython with wet/dry electrodes. In our study we had a reference in Cz and ground situated in Fz. The measures were: Fp1-Cz, Fp2-Cz, O1-Cz, O2-Cz.
To do that is it sufficient to connect an electrode in the SRB pin for Cz and another electrode in the Bias pin for Fz?

    Michele, hi.

Any comparison with clinical EEG, should be done under the same conditions with Cyton. Which is generally with wet, gel, electrodes. Otherwise you are comparing apples to oranges, and results are much more dependent on specific skin conditions and impedances involved; which vary considerably. (Shampoos and conditioners used can also be a factor.) The gel electrolyte is the great equalizer, and normalizes the skin interface. For an example of a comparison study, see Jeremy Frey's paper.

re: SRB2, Bias connections, yes. SRB2 is the default reference for Cyton. Bias is equivalent with Ground.
