OpenBCI GUI updates once per second

So, I'm using the OpenBCI GUI on Processing 2.2.1 (since, as many people in the forum, the windows executable didn't work). Problem is, it is running very slow.
The bar on top of the window indicates the fps of the software and it is at 0 fps most of the time. In reality, the EEG slides around once every second.
How can I fix this? Is this normal? Is this going to affect the resolution of the readings on my OpenBCI SD card?
