OpenBCI Headband Kit 'upgrade' ?
When you compare the OpenBCI Headband Kit to the following one,

you can be easily persuaded or convinced that the former is in desperate need of a considerable upgrade because, as compared to the latter, the OpenBCI Headband Kit lacks placeholders for electrodes in positions FC1, FC2, FC3, FC4, FC5, FC6, FCz, FT7, FT8 and FT9 of the internationally accepted 10-20 system. Unless you purchase the eBay EEG Headband (with the accompanying risk of incompatibility between it and the Cyton board), you lose the option of those aforementioned scalp positions for EEG electrodes.

The straps are simple Velcro One-Wrap tape, with holes punched with a hole-puncher. I was the person who told FRI about the One-Wrap around 5 years ago. Then they made these products based on it. I used it in my velcro saline system, in 2012.

Please note that the punched holes are not intended to align precisely with 10-20 locations, but only approximate. This is because 10-20 coordinates are based on the skull dimensions of the individual. And One-Wrap tape is not elastic. However with your own One-Wrap you can punch holes anywhere you like. Also the velcro can be moved side to side, back and forth, so that existing holes approximately match exact 10-20 locations.
@wjcroft I am not sure whether we had a close enough meeting of the minds on the issue of my enquiry concerning a possible upgrade. What I actually had in mind is that the OpenBCI headband kit seems to lack the longitudinal Velcro placeholders on the sides of the scalp which are present in the.eBay item. These longitudinal placeholders, even if potentially inaccurate, at least attempt to cover areas of the scalp corresponding to the 'motor' or 'somatosensory' cortex.
Did you look at the FRI links??
The kit in the OpenBCI Shop will likely not be 'upgraded'. But with the info I gave you and links, you can produce the scalp coverage you desire. With the One-Wrap tape and a hole-puncher, you can make any conceivable straps yourself. Is that clear, or not?
@wjcroft Could you also kindly address the issue of compatibility of the eBay headband with regard to the Cyton board?
The headband kit in the OpenBCI shop, has the electrodes terminated in female header connectors. These mate directly with the Cyton or Ganglion pins. Most of the electrodes on the FRI site (or eBay), will use 'touchproof' connectors, which do NOT mate to the pins on the Cyton. However the shop also carries a 'Touchproof Adaptor' kit, which can convert to the header connector. Another option if you wish, would just be to cut off the touchproof connectors, and splice in a female header connector. Such connectors can be found in jumper kits:
