Daisy Module / "Init timeout" - standalone app vs Processing

edited January 2015 in Software
I am using the OpenBCI 16-channel R&D kit with the stand-alone Mac OSX OpenBCI GUI to test the system as the first step in using the EEG. When I connect the board without the Daisy Module connected, the connection works just fine; however, when I add the Daisy Module to the standard board and start the GUI with the 16-channel button selected, I get "Init timeout. Verify your Serial/COM Port Power Up/Down your OpenBCI & USB Dongle The retry initialization". I've tried doing this but I still have not gotten it to work. I've also tested the connections on the Daisy Module and OpenBCI board that I had to solder. Have any of you who are using the 16-channel R&D kit gotten this error and how would I fix this problem? Thanks!

  • My first suggestion would be to try running this from Processing. By doing so you'll be able to see a printout to Processing's console, with more verbosity regarding why the timeout is happening.

  • Thanks for the suggestion Conor! It is working now!

Glad to hear you got it working!

Are you still unable to run it from the standalone app? If so, it's something we need to look into in the software export from Processing.
  • Yes, that is correct. I am still unable to get the board to connect when the Daisy Module is attached with the standalone app.
