Cyton generates a lot of noise even if the electrodes are not connected

Compare several EEG databases with the actual signal in the OpenVibe and OpenBCI software but it shows a lot of interference in the signals and also when the electrode cable pin is not connected to the Cyton device, what can it be?
I am using several 6 volt batteries in total.

    It has noise because the leads are not connected. You are basically picking up all interference in the airwaves. There is likely nothing wrong with the Cyton.

    Use batteries based on the recommended power range for the board, connect the leads, check impedance to make sure you have a good connection, and it should all work just fine.

    Johann, hi.

    One of the easy ways to check your Cyton or Ganglion channels for proper operation / noise, is to connect three electrodes or pins together. This can be done with cup electrodes, with a blob of Ten20 paste, or with clip leads. The three leads are: channel, Reference (SRB2 for Cyton), and Ground (Bias for Cyton). This will produce close to zero microvolts in your time series graph.

    If you are getting a lot of noise when using electrodes on your scalp, check that your electrodes and wires are in good shape, that impedance is not too high, etc. A digital volt / ohm meter can check if the wire continuity is close to zero ohms.

    If you are using dry electrodes, try using Ten20 paste instead with cup electrodes, and following the Cyton tutorial instructions. Dry electrode performance is highly dependent on the pressure and quality of skin contact. Cup / paste electrodes do not have this downside.

    Perform tests with the cup and helmet electrodes, place one and several and produce noise, also with Ten20, mix helmet cables and cup electrodes at once and the same thing happens, also in several areas of the head. I will do the tests with these pins that you say and tell them what the result is.

    I'm not understanding your terminology. By 'helmet' are you referring to the Ultracortex and dry electrodes? "...place one and several and produce noise..." Again, I don't understand what you are saying here, perhaps a translation issue. You cannot "mix helmet cables and cup electrodes...". Only use one electrode type at a time.

    Are you doing all the steps of the tutorial? Doing this with cup electrodes and paste will give the best results.

    Perform the tests with the 3 wires the SRB place it in the ear, the BIAS in the other ear and a channel in the prefrontal lobe. No noise is seen, just some peaks, I would like to send you an image of how it looks but I cannot attach it.

    Can you clarify, "no noise is seen, just some peaks." Sounds like it is working.

    Did you try the test with connecting the three wires together, channel, Reference, Ground? This should produce a flat line close to zero microvolts. Are you using cups and Ten20, or something else? Can you answer the previous questions I asked? Have you performed the tutorial?

  • Yes, do the tutorial.
    Use Ten and cup electrodes.
    If I test with the three cables, channel, reference and bias and a flat line appears with a voltage every little time.
    Try the openbci software.
