Cyton not detected when connected to WiFi Shield
Cyton isn't detected when connected to WiFi Shield. Every other query of the WiFi shield works fine, except for OPENBCI BOARD, which returns 'NONE'. And so of course a session can't be started.
The battery is plugged into the WiFi Shield, which has three blue LEDs on. The blue LED on Cyton is also on. No battery is plugged into Cyton.
Cyton works fine via bluetooth dongle when not connected to Wifi shield and has firmware 3.1.1. WiFi shield has latest firmware.

Has this Wifi Shield EVER worked correctly for you? As a reference, people seem to have better luck using two batteries, and non-LiPo configurations (which generate higher voltage, 6V vs 3.7V).

Whoa. I just plugged in a fresh battery (LiPo) and for the first time ever, the 'OPENBCI BOARD' query returns 'Cyton'. Whereas previous attempts it returned 'none'. Alas, when I hit 'Start Session' I still got the red error message at the bottom of OpenBCIGUI: "Check that the device is powered on and in range. Also, try Autoscan. Otherwise, Cyton firmware is out of date." Which is not true (Cyton 3.1.1.).
So I plugged in a second battery to the Cyton and set Cyton power switch to 'PC', and the session started!
Shouldn't OpenBCI update their WiFi shield docs, which specifically state that we should NOT be using two batteries, when that is the only way some of us can even get it to work?
Also, no luck getting UDP & UDPx3 to actually stream any data. The files are empty and the GUI gets no info. TCP works, though about every two minutes the datastream halts while the D2 LED flashes, before resuming after 3 seconds or so.

Yes. I tried that first. Funny how the most reliable setting doesn't work at all for me, while TCP/IP does. What's the trick to getting UDPx3 to work? Do I need to plug in a third battery maybe? (j/k).
Instead of guiding us to plug in only one battery to the WiFi Shield, I recommend the getting started guide for WiFi Shield be updated to say:
"Connect one or more batteries to one or both boards until it starts working."
Mentioning Richard @retiutut. Can we get this in the doc?
Hello, I buy a wifi shield and I am using a Cyton, when I connect only the wifi shield to software openBCI it detect the shield, but when I mount the cyton with the wifi the software don't detect the shield, and the light appear 10 times in 2 secods, I am connecting the power only to the wifi shield. Anybody can help me?

Diego, please try using TWO batteries, one each on Cyton mainboard and shield. This was mentioned in previous posts on this thread. Also suggest using AA cells vs. LiPo.
