Channel Location file (.sfp or .ced) for EEGLAB
Hello everyone,
I'm using the Cyton board to record EEG and process it afterwards with EEGLAB. I need to upload a channel file (.ced format ) and according to EEGLAB tutorial from OpenBCI: '' OpenBCI uses the standard 10-20 format for the 8 and 16 channel models, which can be found within these .ced files: 8 channel and 16 channel. '' The problem is that when I click to redirect and download the files I get a 404 error. Does anyone have these files or know where else can I find them?
Thank you in advance,
Celia

We are having the same problem. If the correct file URLs have been found, can you you please post them publicly?
Thanks!

Hello,
I was trying to take data from cyton 8 channel kit and feed the data to EEGLab.
The issue i am having is with the channel location file (SFP format). Could you please point me to the location from where i can and how i can edit this location files so that i can use it more readily with EEGLab.
All of your previous threads keeps forwarding me to the locations "https://docs.openbci.com/docs/assets/Matlab/electrode_positions_8channel.sfp" & "https://docs.openbci.com/docs/06Software/SoftwareLanding", but I don't know where from and how to download this electrode_positions_8channel.sfp file. since i can't see it anywhere.
Please point me to the web address from where i can download it
Thanks & Regards

@Shirley, hi. This user question was answered yesterday, see above post(s). Sorry he did not inform you that he received the answer directly on the forum.

Sorry, the sfp files at, (convertible to ced),
https://github.com/OpenBCI/Docs/tree/master/assets/Matlab
Only contain the channels and not the reference locations. Since references are frequently off the scalp at earlobes / mastoid etc. There is NO universally used reference location. And I do not believe the earlobe positions have sfp / ced coordinates.

Thank you @wjcroft. This is noted.
Please I am new to eeg and I just started learning this. I need an 8 channel location configuration file with two reference locations to train with. I am currently testing to use eeglab on matlab so I can get a hang of it before school resumes. Could you please advise on how to go about this?
Did you see my previous answer? I don't believe reference electrodes are included in the sfp / ced coordinates.
If you have other EEGLAB questions, I suggest you ask on that mailing list,

Thank you @wjcroft
Hi~

I tried to plot eeg data in EEGLAB following the link.
https://docs.openbci.com/Software/CompatibleThirdPartySoftware/Matlab/
However I couldn't find these sfp files: 8 channel and 16 channel using the "Search Docs" function.
Could you provide or update the new link so that we can download the files conveniently ?
Thank you very much. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Hi @zfmeng, I merged your question into this existing thread on the subject. See previous comments.
Hi~
Thank you for your quick reply. I found the sfp files.
Could I edit the files, as I just use some channels not all 8/16 channels ?
Thank you very much.
Of course, you can adapt the files to your 10-20 channel positions. Which will work for EEGLAB.
But if you are just REMOVING channels, that seems like it would be better done in other EEGLAB menus.
