As I've 8 bit board, would I be able to use the Cycton SDK kit to develop programs for my board and would you suggest some blog to get hands on as I've already studied the learning section on your website...

    Hi RDguy,

Unfortunately the 8-bit firmware is now years out of date, compared to what the 32-bit boards are running. Meaning that many advanced features are not available.

You can however utilize the documented serial port commands (SDK) and stream format, as it is much the same (minus new features.)

You will need to run an old version of the GUI, as the 8-bit board is not supported in latest versions.

For programming in Python, you could use the OpenBCI_Python repository. You can also use that repo to output a stream in LSL LabStreamingLayer, which can be consumed by many BCI / DSP packages such as OpenViBE. Another app you can use with the old board is BrainBay.

Do note that the old firmware occasionally exhibited freeze ups, which were resolved in later firmwares in the 32-bit hardware.

Please use the Google Search button in the right column to search for some of the terms mentioned above.

    Regards,

    William

As far as EEG / BCI blogs, I'd suggest a web search. A great one is Chip Audettte's EEGHacker,

  • @wjcroft which new features are you talking about....?
