Can the GUI playback recordings? / GUI on high DPI screens

Hi! I have a few questions.

Could OpenBCI_GUI handle the raw data file collected by Cyton board ?
Could the page while starting data stream show again by inputing the raw data file to OpenBCI softwear after collecting data ?
If it couldn't, we have to process the raw data by others ?

Thank you very much.

    Z, hi.

I must admit I'm having a very hard time understanding your English translation of what you are trying to say. I'll give a try,

    > Could OpenBCI_GUI handle the raw data file collected by Cyton board ?

The GUI already receives the raw data, and writes it to the CSV text file. Newer versions of the GUI, for example 4.1.2, can PLAY BACK a recorded file.

    > Could the page while starting data stream show again by inputing the raw data file to OpenBCI softwear after collecting data ?

I believe the GUI is either in RECORDING mode or PLAYBACK mode. It cannot do both at once.

    > If it couldn't, we have to process the raw data by others ?

There are many other programs that can process CSV files of EEG data, for example EDFBrowser and Matlab. The GUI can also output BDF (like EDF) directly, which can be read by EDF / BDF programs. Additionally the Networking Widget in the GUI, can output a stream format called LSL LabStreamingLayer, and many EEG signal processing programs can deal with that.

    William
  • Hi! William.
Thank you for your kindness and patience very much.
Very sorry for my poor translation.

I understand what you explained and I'd try that first,

    Thank you very much indeed.
  • Hi! William.

I followed your steps and downloaded the latest version 4.1.2. But it could not show the whole page.
And I could not find the PLAY BACK function. Could you give some suggestions ?

    Thank you very much.

  • Hi, William!

I found the PLAY BACK on the latest version 4.1.2.
It's just that the whole page still could not show on my screen, even though I follwed the tips.

(If you have a high DPI screen and are running windows 10, you may notice that the GUI is hard to see, and nothing seems to scale correctly. Select `Change high DPI Settings` and on the bottom drop down box, change from `Application` to `System (Enhanced)`.)

    Thank you very much indeed.
  • Hi~William!

I'm Sorry. Could you give me some suggestions about the latest version 4.1.2.

As it still could not be displayed completely on my computer, even could not be moved.

Very looking forward to your reply. Thank you very much.
  • Hi~William!

    Thank you for your kindness.

I solved the problem following the tips from windows.

    Thank you very much indeed.

  • hi @zfmeng, I would like to make a permanent fix. Do you still have a screen shot where I can see the issue? The link above is not working for me. Could you re-send?

    Thanks!

    @zfmeng, thanks.

Daniel would like to see the original screenshot you took with the distorted GUI window. Your link pointing to a photos.google.com URL, likely is unavailable to us because we are not accessing with your own account. Instead, you can post on Google Drive, then copy the link here.

I understand you have solved the issue by adjusting the Properties on the GUI exe. We're going to try to adjust the text that mentions this on the docs page, to be more clear about how to do that.

    Regards,

    William

That image is how it looks BEFORE or AFTER you adjust the GUI Properties for "System (Enhanced)"
  • Hi~William!

It's very delighted to hear from you soon.

I'm sorry that it seems no changes before and after adjusting the Properties for "System (Enhanced)".

I just found that how to show the page completely and click it. And I uploaded two pictures.

    Thank you very much.

The screenshots look relatively normal. Can you clarify exactly what is not working??

I assume you realize that the GUI should be closed before changing the Properties, then restarted. The Property for screen scaling is read at GUI start time.

  • Hi~William!

    Thank you.

Yes. I set the properties as you refered, changing properties while GUI closed then restarted.
I think it is OK now.

    Thank you very much.

    Glad to hear that!

@daniellasry, I think all we need to do now is clarify the note for high DPI on the docs page. It should mention the GUI exe Properties box setting AND that it needs to be done when GUI is closed, then open after changing. Current docs note does not say any of this. Also mentioning Richard @retiutut.

Current text: "(If you have a high DPI screen and are running windows 10, you may notice that the GUI is hard to see, and nothing seems to scale correctly. Select `Change high DPI Settings` and on the bottom drop down box, change from `Application` to `System (Enhanced)`.) "

    Cheers everyone!
