Good, current reads on neuro-feedback?

Dear All,

Can you recommend good current books, paper, web sources on neuro-feedback? I got the Cython Board, build a Neocortex and experimented a lot with it and the openBCI-python package. I read some university script on neuro-feedback and the web sources recomended in this forum, I got knowledge about the basics but never found much for example about how to utilize multiple channels even if I read in some papers that the relative readings on different electrode position readings can also tell something about the state of mind. [DOI: 10.3389/fpsyg.2018.00300] I wanted to code some software and thought I would pic up on the state of the art while doing so but with an academic version of NeuroPype I think my tools overtook my knowledge.
So I am looking for a well sourced read that best would be addressed to an academic layman (so no pseudo-science and esotheric but also not only understandable as a neurologist). Like what you would recommend say an engineer or physicist who joined your neuro-feedback team. I can get a lot of literature over my university so price or closed access shouldn't be a problem.

    There are many neurofeedback resources. I assume you've used the search button in the lower right column.

    Here is one text addressed more to engineer, scientist level. Author is Tom Collura, founder of Brainmaster, one of the premier manufacturers used by clinicians.


    As far as "utilize multiple channels", many neurofeedback protocols only use 1, 2, or at most 4 channels. These encompass traditional band type reward / inhibit trainings. There is also the whole area of Z-Score training, covered in Collura's book. However note the ancillary tech required for QEEG brain mapping and normative databases that run that and the real time Z-score biofeedback, are way pricey. 

    On the very high end, Loreta neurofeedback is utilizing a full head (10-20 map) cap of 19 or more channels. With or without Z-Scores. This allows targeting 3D voxel ROI, Regions of Interest. Collura's text also goes into this. For full cap use, all clinicians use something like the elastic Electro-caps, with gel injected at each site. This gives stability of signal quality, generally superior to what can be achieved with dry electrode systems (which are more prone to pressure and movement artifacts.)

    Two neurofeedback apps that work with OpenBCI, are BrainBay and BioEra. OpenViBE can also be used, but it is more geared to BCI applications and does not have nearly as many design elements geared to neurofeedback as the others.

    NeuroPype likely also can be used, but it's not widely available. BioEra has the most companies using it as the basis for their products. Jarek, the developer provides superb tech support. Usually responding to queries within hours. There is also a BioEra user forum.
