USB Serial Port for Cyton Dongle not appearing -> fixed with new FTDI install

edited February 2019 in Cyton
Hi,

Forgive me if I'm using the wrong terminology, computers aren't my strong point.

Anyway, I am trying to get a Cyton up and running on Mac OXS 10.13. However, in OpenBCI-Gui, the only options that appear under SERIAL/COM PORT are all Bluetooth. If I go to the /dev folder, I also don't see any dev/ttyUSB appearing.

I have installed the FTDI driver, disabled the Apple-provided VCP by using D2xxHelper, rebooting everything multiple times.  I also tried plugging in an arduino to see if that appeared in the /dev folder, and it does, so it doesn't seem to be an issue for other FTDI devices.

Any advice?

Thank you!
Jasmine

  • Update: Got it working after uninstalling and reinstalling everything (the FTDI VCP driver and the D2xxHelper). Not sure why that did it but yay?
