Seeking collaborators for robotic prosthetic arm replacement

I recently lost my arm and decided to begin making myself a new one. I have little experience in robotics or software development and studied biology during my undergrad but figured it might be easier to make a robotic arm than try and grow one back Ha! If anybody is interested in collaborating with me in this relatively lax and long term project I welcome the help! Today marks Day 1 02/03/19 I'll check back in periodically to gauge progress! Thank!

    Hi Juangandara,

I'm sorry to hear about your circumstance. Very creative to be thinking about possible technical engineering possibilities.

Here are a few items that come up on a search:

I think you can separate the arm motor control functions, from the idea of using a Brain Computer Interface, to give the motors their instructions. The BCI part is considerably harder. The easier avenue would be to have the arm motors, controlled by sensors near the end of the limb. Or other locations on that arm. EMG, ElectroMyography, can sense muscle contractions at the skin level. Then a program could interpret those contractions to operate the various motors.

Still realize this is very much an active research area, and most projects working in this domain have large funding.

But there are some open source efforts going on in this space,

    Best regards,

    William
