The original search box for the forum still remains in the right column at the bottom. This executes inside the Vanilla Forum software package and searches in the forum posts for words that match what you type. However it has no capability for quoted phrases (searches each word individually) and does not support logical AND / OR etc.
We just added a new link just above the search box. Clicking on that will open a new browser tab with the Google Advanced Search entry form. The "openbci.com" site is pre-filled in, so it will only search within OpenBCI. Note that your searches will find items BOTH on the forum and the main site; a real plus. Google allows arbitrary phrases and logical operations on your search terms.
A small disadvantage of the Google search is that it depends on their cached webcrawler view of the OpenBCI website. Thus recently added items to the forum or main site may not show up on the search results for a period of time until Google caches the new pages. So in that case the local Search box will always turn up the new matches immediately.
